About Us

Kathleen Holmgren

I learned to sew when I was 9 years old from a woman in Mexico who taught my mother and I to sew without a pattern.  From there I learned how to knit, crochet, tat, and all types of needlework.  Sewing and crafts is what I do to relax and allows me to express my creativity.

As my father is from Hawaii, I have a deep and familial aloha for that culture.  It was my hula teacher who first taught me how to sew ribbon leis. Since then, I’ve studied with ribbon lei masters in Hawaii and have learned to make a variety of styles, both sewn and woven.  Not only do I give leis as gifts, I have also shared my knowledge of the craft by teaching special friends how to make them--Kathleen being one of my students.
